As of January 2009, after nearly 11 years of being online, the Dub Flash is now available in version 2.0.
What does that mean? It means that I came to the conclusion that the original internet designing is out-of-date and that blogging, messaging, social networking is the art of today.
That is what is commonly known as "Web 2.0". Web for dummies is what others call it.
I have decided that the old-fashioned programming in HTML and PHP is a job I cannot handle anymore due to missing time. It was nice because I had full control over how my pages look and what they can do. But it's not worth the effort anymore. Nowadays, everyone can have his/her own page without any skills or knowledge. So, my knowledge seems of no use anymore.
The result is this totally new Dub Flash 2.0. You will still get most of the same content as before. But it all looks more like a blog now and so you can use all the typical Web 2.0 features like RSS-feeds, trackbacking, commenting and so on.
The positive effect for me is that updating my pages is now easier than ever before. So I hope that I can write reviews more frequently.
Anyway, I still tried to make it look like a real webpage (so my skills are still useful for something, it seems). On the left you find categories. Previously called links.
You have a well-working search engine, a calendar function for sorting the entries in a different way and so on.
New features can be found on the left and the right, for example polls. That's something I had way back in the days but it was too complicated to always implement it. Now it's easy. And flexible. Nice.
In the top navigation you still find some parts of the Dub Flash 1.7 website. The links for example or the newsletter. And of course the WEBSHOP!
I hope you get along with the new Dub Flash 2.0. I think I will like it.
Yours dubfully, Dub Rogue (17-01-2009)
