The History of Dub Flash
April 2003: Dub Flash Records is founded after nearly 5 years of the "Dub Flash - Dub Information Portal".
October 2003: After awful problems with the pressing plant, the first release "Dub Splitz Part 1" featuring Dubcreator (who extra composed the "Dub Flash hymn"), Jonah Dan and Sayan is out. 500 7"es in a very bad quality and on 33 rpm will be sold throughout the world during the next months. The orginal idea was to release one 7" as a birthday present for ourselves. But due to the success of this release, we got hooked by the idea of continueing.
December 2003: The second release, the "Righteousness EP" (12") featuring Sir Larsie I, Rankin Diddy and a wicked Dubcreator remix, is released, just in time for christmas. The very limited quantity is sold out after only 3 months and a repress follows soon (see below). The vinyl quality is fine, thanks to our new pressing plant partner.
April 2004: The first LP is released: AB-10 meets Uptown Selector "Dub Splitz Part 2". Two Finnish acts with their own way of dubbing. The album sells very well and fast in Scandinavia but has problems outside which is a pity as the album is really good. A little tour with three gigs in Helsinki, Tampere and Turku accompagnies the release. After coming back from this trip, the "Dub Flash Webshop" opens it's virtual doors.
June 2004: The repress of the "Righteousness EP" is released due to heavy demand. It will be the best selling Dub Flash release for a very long time. At the end of the month, two Dub Flash sessions in Northern France help spreading the message there.
September 2004: A promotional gig for the next release sees Dub Rogue playing together with Lhuger from the Finnish Suhinasounds and Berlin's finest: Lujah in the Berlin club "Dub Pub". Unfortunately, we blow the speakers... Even worse, Dub Rogue loses his job and decides to start studying in October.
October 2004: A compilation LP "Dub Shoe - Episode 1: The Stepping Shoe" is released. It features 10 dubs from 10 artists from 10 countries and is supposed to show people what big variety in dub music you can find on the market. All artists are newcomers or underground artists. Although the quality is very good, many people are complaining because of the unusual title and cover artwork (a show which is getting cleaned). We think, reggae fans should show more humor. At the end, it is about the music and not only about the culture! We have respect for it, of course. But it spoils our fun when we hear all the complaints.
December 2004: A christmas dub party sees Dub Flash playing a heavy roots selection alongside Peacetime Sound in Berlin. We give away promotional mixtapes as christmas presents for the visitors.
February 2005: Dub Rogue's concept album is finally done - 10 months delayed. It's the first CD release and only touches the dub genre slightly. Suprisingly, it gets good critics from the rap scene.
March 2005: A surprising Japan-deal appears and therefore we decide to release the "best of CD" already now instead of one year later. Also, the Dub Rogue CD is ordered in a bigger quantity from Japan. Besides that, "normal" business continues: The third part of the "Dub Splitz" series is released. Another vinyl LP featuring Social Living Sounds from Sweden and 19 year old Gary Dub from Southern France. On the last day of the month, Dub Rogue and Dub Pipe play a legendary steppers selection in Berlin's "RAW Temple". Three MCs and one flute play show up at the party. Best moment ever was when a little techno rave girlie who came from some other club which was already closed then and asked if we couldn't play something fast. We already were at the speed of let's say the early Dubwise 10"es. Pitched up! ;) As Gary Clail would say: Rave! Rave on, rave on!
July 2005: Dub Rogue and Dub Pipe play on the "Seasplash Festival" in Pula, Croatia and on the "Garden Dub Party" in Lyon, France. Promotion for the forthcoming 10" "Dub Splitz Part 4" is done there, including three radio selections and one radio interview.
August 2005: A phone call in the afternoon brings another nice dub session later that night in RAW Temple, hosted by Peacetime Sound.
September 2005: DFR007 is scheduled...
October 2005: The new improved Dub Flash webshop is finally, after over half a year of work, online.
November 2005: DFR007, Dubcreator feat. Madu meets Inspirational Sound feat. Dan-I & Iration Steppas "Dub Splitz Part 4: Run Soundboy Run" 10" is out and available.
December 2005: The next christmas dub party in Berlin takes place in WAF Salon and Dub Flash is playing again alongside other dub friends.
March 2006: Part 2 of the legendary steppers selection in Berlin, exactly one year after the first session. This time Dub Rogue and Dub Pipe play together with King David Sound on his own soundsystem. When the lights turn out, people start to dance like crazy.
April 2006: DFR007 is completely sold out.
May 2006: Dub Flash Sound is invited to play in Pforzheim (Southwest Germany) together with Ganja Riddim Sound on their self made system. Nice venue, small crowd, cool session.
August 2006: Dub Rogue moves for one year to Finland and takes a little break from the label's work.
October 2006: Dub Rogue visits Switzerland for a session with Jah Roots Hi-Fi Soundsystem in Neuchatêl and Chezidek Hi-Powa in Aarau. Especially the latter became a rough and raw hardcore steppers session after the drum & bass freaks from the upper floor marched in. Excellent care by the local organisators (big up!) make it a very  nice trip!
November 2006: DFR008 is scheduled.
January 2007: DFR006 and DFR010 are now available at dozens of online MP3 stores like iTunes and this kind of things. Dub Rogue is working for the Finnish radio station Oi FM.
February 2007: The big Oi FM opening party takes place in Karjalantalo club in Joensuu (Finland) and Dub Rogue is warming up the crowd before Kemmuru, a popular Finnish rap crew, and a wicked funk band rock the place.
March 2007: Finally, DFR008 is released. Our 1st Finland-release so to say. An unofficial release party takes place in the Teatteriklubi as Dub Rogue meets DJ Sadam and Tohtori Ruuvi @ the Marsipaanikerho-event. Dub meets Rap and futurejazzfunkdiscoparty. T'is was a lot of fun fi sure.
September 2007: After coming back to Berlin, Dub Rogue plays an extremely heavy stepping set alongside Dub Pipe at the weekly Dub Wohnzimmer in the RAW Tempel. Legendary was the moment when a guy who liked like a gangster rapper came to the DJ desk and asked "Could you play some steppers, please?" Nice!
December 2007: DFR008 is sold out.
April 2008: DFR004, DFR005 and DFR007 are now available as digital downloads on iTunes and other portals.
