08.11.98: Oh boy, nearly two months since the last news. So sorry! What happened
since September? There was a little Rootsman tour through Germany that was really
great. He also released some new records (also great). The new Jah Warrior LP must
be out in the shops now. The Jungle Brothers recorded a 12" for "Black Hoodz"
(Wordsound). The "Rocker's Hifi" one is out, too. So there's enuff new shit for all the
dubsters out there. The "Dub Club" in Berlin won't open again, what a pity!!!!!
15.9.98: On 23rd Oct. Jah Warrior plays in Hamburg in the "Flora" with Shanty Sound System and one day later he will be in Greifswald. Check this out. It's a must. Actually I'm thinking about driving to Hamburg to see this event! Sorry for not updating this site regularly, no time:-( But there are many LPs out these days: i.e. "Dubhead Vol. 4" or Hughie Izachaar's "Can't Take The Pressure", which are both excellent LPs. Also there are lots of new 7"es from England, like Messenjah's "Lightning Rock" or The Hydroponics with "Beware". An eMail-request at Wordsound's brought to light that they plan to release a new Roots Control LP. To me that's great news! And Jah Warrior plans his "Dub From The Heart 2" LP. Seems to be a great time for all the dubstahs out there:-) 7.8.98: Many updates on nearly every page here. I.e. new LP reviews, one more midi song, some smaller changes in the texts a.s.o. No dub events at the moment in Berlin and even dancehall/reggae is very rare. What's wrong? A new Wordsound LP is out: "Dubadelic: Bass Invaders". Review in the reviews ection. Another (much better) LP: "Rastafari Teachings Pt. 2" on "Reggae On Top" label. 12.7.98: And another midi-song has been added. It's still untitled but it's a stepping song with a heavy beat and melodica melodies. Also available here. 12.7.98: A new midi-track of Dieb In Dub Prod. is now downloadable in the music section. It's a great song with horns'n'stuff, making one wanna move;-) Please listen to it if you have a great soundcard. Don't try it with 16-bit ones, please, I checked it: ugly! The track is called "Your Majesty King DubDeMad I." but don't take it serious;-) 29.6.98: Check out your local dealers for new "Jah Warrior" releases(7"). They are VERY great! 28.6.98: No news for a long time, sorry! Saturday "Dub Syndicate" played in Berlin and -of course- it was a fantastic gig! Last Dub Club takes place on thursday, 2nd July in the "WTF", as always. Full Dub-I-Nity crew. Question: Will there be more Dub Clubs after the summer break? Insider say no, cos the organizers don't earn enough money, in fact, they don't earn any money! What a pity:-((( 17.5.98: The "Asian Dub Foundation" gig was really fantastic! If they play in your town you HAVE to visit their concert. 12.5.98: Dub Syndicate released a second new album! It's the jamaican version of "Fear Of A Green Planet" produced by Scientist! Admiral Tuff said yesterday that this LP is much much much better than the english one! I hope so. Watch out for "Mellow & Colly"! 12.5.98: Tomorrow night "Asian Dub Foundation" will be in the "Loft" (Nollendorfplatz). A must for every Dub fan! Rumours are that they give an after show party in the "WTF"! 03.5.98: Tonight I made a midi-version of two of my latest songs. Both can be found on the music site! At first I present "Bass Attacks vs. The Inner Mind", a song that is devided into two parts. First part "Bass Attacks" is more heavy with a dancehall beat (not in the midi-version). The second part "The Inner Mind" is typical DubDem-stylee with a harp as main instrument. The other song is called "Cosmical Vibration". Trance-Dub at its best featuring flute, harp, Koto, sitar and other ethnic instruments! Both songs will be on my first EP(LP?). These special midi-arrangements have been made just for you visitors of this site;-) The original versions sound much better than the Midis, especially the Bass is a problem, and some main instruments are missing("Bass Attacks...")... 30.4.98: Check out the Dub Club dates for May: 7.5. Deeroy's HiFiChamber "Old School Dubnight with guests"; 14.5. Sounds Of Psalms "Dub Vibrations with Prince Roots Sky"; 21.5. SPECIAL: ZION TRAIN meets the Dub Club!! Prices: 20 DM for all (instead of 7 DM). But definitely worth the money! 28.5. Lu-Jah's Dub Carnival. Each event starts 11pm (22:00). C U there 30.4.98: Today I bought two new LPs: Dub Syndicate "Fear Of A Green Planet". It's absolutely new stuff featuring Big Youth, Bill Laswell and many more. Roots oriented, I would say, but still typical DS style (Scott)... Second LP is the Audio Active Remix 2x12": And now READ This carefully: For all the ones out there who waited for the "Apollo Choco" LP and never get it, cause it is a CD only album. Her is the solution: Buy the Remix LP. It features the 7 remixes AND (I am still totally overwhelmed!!!!)7 original CD tracks. So you get the original album + the remix album. Tracks featured are: on side A: Return Of The Super Ape, Stiff Wheel, Coolness Is My Foolishness. On side B: U.G.(my fave), Heart Of L-Ion, Citizen Zombie and Time Goes Down To A Flashing Sight. These are the best songs on the CD (except Robot War and Weed Specialist, but these are to find on record 2 as remixes), so you don't need more. Only the cover is shit, however a must have! 24.4.98: On thursday, the 30th of April there's a "Dub Club" special: "Dub in den Mai" featuring the full Dub-I-Nity-crew! 20.4.98: The new Dub Syndicate album "Fear Of A Green Planet" is out. It's released via Efa and not On-U Sound. CD is available, vinyl has yet to come. For my vinyl friends: Check out their 10" "God Is A Man" featuring Junior Reid on vocals, a track from the new album. 20.4.98: Still waiting for the 2x12" remix album of Audio Active's "Apollo Choco". CD, of course, is available since weeks... 19.4.98: Today is the last Audio Active gig in Germany. Place to be: Stuttgart "Röhre". April 98: Check out the new Rootsman album. Now out on vinyl (whithout cover and only 7 tracks, but still great!) April 98: The lost Prince Far I 78-Frontline-LP "Health And Strength" is being recovered. Available via Pressure Sounds on vinyl and CD. April 98: Watch out for "Disciples"-re-releases(white lable) on 7", 10" & 12". March 98: Riz All Stars release their new album "Reveal Report" on Echobeach. Like all other Echobeach-recordings it's only available on CD (big disrespect to Echobeach!!!!). March 98: Professor Shehab (Wordsound) founded a new lable named BARAKA FOUNDATION. The music shall be more weird than the Wordsound ones. First releases: Qaballah "Dub In Fusion" (Wordsound re-release), Dr. Israel "Next Step", Captain Kowatchi "The Conference Of The Birds", Mark Pistel "Pistel" AND "The Land Of Baboon Vol.2", the sequence to the legendary "Dubolition 2000". |
