Dub News from 1999
27.12.99: I wish you all a happy new year, new century, new millenium, whatever you prefer ;-)

27.12.99: Oh yeah, a long time without news. A lot happened: Some new releases from Jah Warrior, Doug Wimbish and many more. The Dub Club in Berlin is now again every Thursday and the 1st event was for free and maybe the wickedest dance I ever took part in :-))) And my site is updated, too. I moved to a new flat if someone is interested and I hope that I will now be able to update more regularly in the future!

21.09.99: Some interesting new releases during the last weeks: Messenjah, Dub Specialists, Dubhead Soundclash, Jah Warrior 7" and soon to come: the new, long awaited, Iration Steppas LP! Check the reviews.

18.08.99 - 23.08.99: Massive update as you can see :-) More news to follow... 13.07.99: Massive update including 6 LP reviews and other additions. Next bigga update will bring you a new design on my site (hopefully).

On Friday there will be another Dub Club in Berlin in the "Icon Club".

Netherland's "Dub Creator" is working on a live set that sure will kick ass - believe me!

02.06.99: Interview, Dub Scene, Music sections updated. Comments about A. Pablo, smaller changes throughout the site. The Dub Club was crap. No more infos at the moment, 'cos I'm very busy - sorry!

19.05.99: On Friday, 21st of May is another Dub Club in Berlin. Location: Icon Club at U "Eberswalder Straße" in Prenzlauer Berg. Start is at 23:30! C U there :-)

Oh, forget to tell you here in the news that the Stephen Benbrook (Zion's Gate Records) interview is now online. Check this interesting on out!

Next updates will bring you a brand new design (as this was your second complaint). I think it will be really good (and new this way, too?). Also, there will be a story by Steve Mosco about the latest sound system gig in Leeds/UK and some comments about music business.

01.05.99: Finally, my Real Audio files should be working (streaming). If everything is right, just click on the sample and it will load automatically...

For better viewing I redesigned the reviews pages, now with frames.

29.04.99: Went to a 2nd hand LP market and bought some records there (what else): African Head Charge's "Environmental Studies" for example or "Ariwa Hits '89". Both are reviewed in the LP reviews section. Also you can find reviews of the new Tena Stelin and Bush Chemists albums.

22.04.99: Bought the new Tena Stelin LP and the Bush Chemists one yesterday. Yes, the vinyl version of the Bush Chemists album feautres 14 tracks althought it should only be 10! (CD bonus tracks also on vinyl?) Both LPs realla great, reviews to follow...

20.04.99: New links added and an e-mail button put on every site for a better navigation ;-)

The new Tena Stelin album should be available now everywhere, even in Germany ;-)

03.04.99: Sorry for not updating this page within the last weeks, I work on a new homepage about German rap act "Die Pilzen". But now there are some small changes and some new links.

Finally the new Bush Chemists LP is out, but only in England. Rumours are that the record will only be available in Germany on CD for the unbelievable price of over 40 DM! A dub LP normally costs about 20 DM!! Hope this is really just a rumour.

For Kitachi fans in the Leeds area: They will play a gig with Jah Warrior - so far I don't know when. If everyone has gig dates, please mail them to me. I will publish them.

Dub Chandra plans a dub clash with Netherlands' Dub Creator in fall or winter, hopefully on vinyl, too.

Next Dub Club date in Berlin: Friday, 16.04.99, Icon Club, Cantianstr. 15 in Prenzlauer Berg at U station "Eberswalder Str.". "Big Up The Dub"! Now every 3rd Friday of the month.

Yesterday (old news, sorry) Alphablondy played in Berlin. But they moved to the "Arena". This is the baddest concert hall in Berlin. You won't hear one bass tone there - never. So I guess the concert wasn't very succesful. These stupid organizers who only want to earn more money...

Records that I'm still waiting for:

Crooklyn Dub Consortium Pt. 3 on Wordsound (planned for March '99)

the new Kitachi LP (planned for January '99)

the Jah Warrior CD on Lush Records

the new Roots Control LP on Wordsound

any new On-U release like Levi Judah or Doug Wimbish (both planned for '98!)

12.03.99: New reviews online incl. Real Audio files. Also some words about the Disciples gig in Berlin (in the dub scene section).

25.02.99: The story about vinyl is ready and online. Check out the "Jah Free Meets Vibronics" LP on Universal Egg. Great sound system style. Review of that one to follow...

03.02.99: "To precede the new album by the Dub Funk Association entitled 'Confrontation In Dub' Tanty Records will be making available a limited edition 6 track album sampler on 12" vinyl." This can be read on the homepage of "Tanty Records" at http://www.tantyrecord.com. Of course better would be a 12" sampler with all CD tracks, don't you think so, folks?

I guess the new Jah Warrior 7" featuring Tony Roots is out now. Check your vendors! Also watch out for the new Bush Chemists LP featuring great singer Talawa!

A question: Does anyone know the exact date of the "Notting Hill Carnival '99"? I really want to go there but have to know when the event happens...

22.01.99: New reviews added. With that I "transformed" the wave samples into Real Audio files. Now the files have more KB but they are much, much longer. Really worth the download time. In fact where do you get so many dub samples from different bands on one uncommercial dub site? ;-)

3 more days to cast your votes. Thanx to all who took part so far!

03.01.99: New pictures added to the thumbnail gallery. Fun Dub page put online, new vinyl section will come soon.

27.12.98: Well, it's been christmas and I was working on my site. I collected some more links and with that gave the links and reviews pages a new outfit.

Wordsound releases "Crooklyn Dub Consortium Part 3" in March '99. Roots Control made a track for dis one and are still "planning" their new LP.

I wish all visitors a happy new happy year !

17.12.98: Site update: Dub poll '98 is online click here and the "Dubunition" is written - at last click here for that. I wanted to review the new "Disciples/Alpha & Omega" LP, but it is only available on CD:-(

01.12.98: I don't know why I write this, but: For every "amateur" who wants to dub a little bit: There is a nice sample CD available. It's called "Soun' Bwoy - Critical Massive" and has lots of reggae and dub sounds on it. I got it as a bargain and I'm very satisfied with it. Check out one of the samples here: wave-section.

20.11.98: 3 days ago I bought some new records: Mad Professor "Dubotronic", Jah Warrior "Dub From The Heart 2", an Audio Active 12" on Green Tea Records, Mixman's "Antiquities", Laswell's Equations Of Eternity project "veve" on Wordsound and Jah Mali with "El Shaddai" (no dub but I bought it nevertheless;-) ). And three 7". Riz All Stars "Underground", Prince Alla "Great Stone" and Clifton Campbell "New Civilization" (both on Freedom Sounds). And well, the records seem all to be worth the money. So you should consider listening to them in the shops when you see them. And check my Jah Warrior review on the reviews page!
