The Webcam Hi-Fi crew presents a new 10": "Care & Share"
with guest MC Jah Marnyah from the Vibronics stable and Tooney Roots from the
I-Plant posse.
The riddim comes in four different version (vocal, dub, horn cut, melodica cut),
so there is something for everyone on it. The style could be described as a
mellow, rootsy stepper with a lot of positive skanking and concentration on the
horn section. Jah Marnyah's contribution sounds softer than usually, he
obviously tried to fit well to this riddim and didn't just deliver a piece of
work. Good.
The dub cut is the roughest of all versions, though it's not really rough but
more stripped to the bone as it should be. Definitely my favourite version. The
horn cut and melodica cut are more or less addons for fans of these. Since I
don't really like melodicas, I haven't played that version too often but I
imagine that it might be played by several selectors on a dance if there is no
MC around. For the horn cut, I need to be in the right mood for horns. Sometimes
I am, sometimes I am not. It might work best in the evening at the open window,
when you can look at the sunset and enjoy a Pina Colada or an icecold beer,
brewed with icewater from Lapland. :)
