Detailed review:

Oho, a new Disco Plate from ON-U Sound. Who would have thought it. After ONUDP42 (which was unreleased) comes now ONUDP050 and it's a white label "for promotional use" only 10" with something which has been unheard before on that label. And possibly anywhere else as well:

A massive Dubstep tune, but not really that Dubsteppish, more like a rough stepper with sub bass. A killer riddim for sure. And Lee "Scratch" Perry is in a good mood as well. Since he stopped drinking and smoking I am now finally, after all these years, able to understand what he actually says without needing a translator.

I don't know anything about the Moody Boyz but if they always make such good music, they must be geniuses. But I have the feeling that this might be a positive exception. ;)

Anyway, "God Smile" is a remix from a full album from Lee Perry, produced by Adrian Sherwood, ON-U Sound's mastermind. As far as I know it's already out, but possibly only in Japan via Beat Records. I don't have the album yet and in a way, the info I got about it, was somewhat confusing. I heard for example a great excerpt from that album on a radio show but this one song doesn't even seem to be on the album although it was said it would be (addition, 2008-07-31: The song is in fact on the album but with a different title.). And since information about the album is like non-existent at all anyway, I don't know what to think about it.

Well, whatever it is, I have this record and I'm glad I was quick enough because it's as limited as can be. Rumours spread that it's a 250 copies only release (maybe because of that it's a white label?). I don't know if it's true.
