So, yesterday I finished my review of Aldubb's "Dubfiles.03" in which I stated that I just finished with the review of his "Dubfiles.02" and I stood up and said: "hooray", done with another review. So, I checked if the link at the end of the review worked and this link leads to the One Drop website, Aldubb's label. So I click and the smile on my face starts to freeze... Why? Because there was again another new release there. This guy brings out his music faster than I can write my reviews. ;) Oh boy. OK, did I think, it seems to be a Dubstep remix 10", I don't have to review that. But I checked it and realised that it's not a Dubstep release. In fact, the tune featured here is the "Soundwarrior" riddim which I have praised like crazy in the Dubfiles.02 review. So, I have no chance than to review this one, too. Here we go: The 10" (and MP3) features three versions of the aforementioned riddim, the first one is a very funky and groovy remix which I don't consider to be Dubstep. Maybe the subbass but that's already it. I like the beats, so it definitely cannot be Dubstep because my definition of a Dubstep is: nice instrumentation but lame beats (yeah. hit me now, all you Dubsteppers...) and yeah, it's more like breakbeats meets dub beats than anything else. Very nice tune! The second tune is something completely unexpected for me: a vocal cut pon de Soundwarriors riddim called "Unfair System", featuring Black Dillinger and Fitta Wari. Well, isn't this perfect? Now every soundsystem in the world can play this riddim in vocal & dub fashion. Great! And finally, the third track is the plain "Soundwarriors Riddim". Another good idea! Because that means we have now 4 different versions of this wicked riddim available: vocal, version, dub and remix. Let's clap our hands and thank Aldubb for this damn fine riddim, ok?
