Welcome to Dub Flash Records! This is "The Beginning".

On 4th May 2003, Dub Flash partied its 5th anniversary. For that occasion, Dubcreator created a Dub called “Dub Flash”, suggested that I'd start my own label, and allowed me to release his song.

I created the "Dub Splitz" series. The idea was to present two different Dubs by two different artists on two different sides (of the vinyl record). This release is Part 1.

Behind the scenes:

The record was pressed by the Hamburg-based company Ameise. For reasons I don't remember, the release got delayed by half a year. Thus instead of 4.5.2003, the release date was 30.10.2003. All copies got handnumbered by myself.

In order to help myself with sales and distribution of this release, I opened my "Outer Space Dub XPress" webshop and the “Dub Flash Distribution” at the end of 2003.

The labels have a misprint of the release number. Instead of DFR001 it says DFR7001. I don't remember if this was my original intention or a mistake. I also don't remember how the label was created.

Since both songs are over 5 minutes long, the vinyl plays on 33.3 RPM. Looking back, I'm surprised that those long tunes worked out at all on 7". Good job by Ameise. I knew nothing about creating vinyls back then.

This is a screenshot from the Reggaemusicstore.com, Jah Warrior's webshop back in the days. He was one of the very few online shop competitors back in the early 2000s. (And no, we were not competitors, but friends. I sold his releases, he sold my releases. Win-win for both. ;) )
