Sir Larsie I is a music producer from Potsdam, Germany.

This EP features two readily produced tracks by Larsie featuring Rankin Diddy on vocals. Another already available remix by Dubcreator was added. All the tunes were created without Dub Flash's involvement. I heard them as dubplates, and Larsie and I agreed on me releasing them as a 12" EP.

Behind the scenes:

Due to popular demand, this release received a re-press. It's the only Dub Flash that got one. However, the first edition had 300 copies, out of those 100 were given away for free / as promos. Insane times, looking back at it. Must have cost me a little fortune for postage. With the second edition also having 300 copies, the total amount available for sale was around 500, which matches (most of) the other releases.

I met Sir Larsie I in summer 2003 in his studio in Potsdam. I don't remember how we got in contact. Most likely via my “Dub Information Portal”.

He had just released his debut “Babylon Shitstem” on Paqua Roots, NL, and we listened to a bunch of his unreleased dubplates. At the end of the day, we had discussed this 12" EP, and I made it happen. I wished I'd remember more details. I know that the other tunes from the batch we listened to were never released. I'd love to listen to them again some day.

(Not so) funny tidbit: Some people complained about the name “Sir Larsie I”, and one quite famous UK Dub producer didn't want to understand that “Sir Larsie I” and I were and are not the same person. I personally think that the name is a genious wordplay around his nickname Larsie.

Some years later Larsie changed his artist name. He is still going strong with many releases two decades later, but not as Sir Larsie I.

Ranking Diddy, the featured vocalist on this release, also changed his artist name a few years later. His new moniker is Junior Kigwa. Details are unknown to me.

Dubcreator still creates Dub. That much I know.
