Release information:

The first part of Dub Rogue's psychoanalytical memoir "The Story Of A Life" is a 15-track-strong CD album that includes an 8 page booklet explaining the story which is told by the songs.

Inspired by musical fairytales like "Peter und der Wolf" by Prokofjew, "Dreams of a Lost Soul" follows a prince of a fictitious kingdom who had to flee after some revolt, and is wandering the realms in search of a new melody for his dreams.

Parts 2 and 3 of this trilogy were planned to come after 15 years each, however, part 2 eventually took 16 years due to delays caused by the covid pandemic situation around 2020. After the release in 2021, the final conclusion of the series is scheduled for 2037 (another 16 years), if Dub Rogue is still in this realm of existence then.

The CD edition was made possible by Dub Flash's Japanese distributor Cisco, who requested two Dub Flash CD releases (DFR006 and DFR010).

Behind the scenes:

One (or two?) 2x12" vinyl dubplate cut of this album exists.

The CD edition has been sold out for some years, but there are still extra copies of the original CD booklet left, as there were only 250 CDs, but the minimum amount for the booklet print was 500. If anyone is interested, I'm sending them out for shipping costs (should be a small price due to fitting into a small, lightweight letter).

The reviews about the album were mixed, since it's just in the realms of Dub, but mixed with all kinds of genres. And I'm just a hobby musician. However, one listener from the USA sent me a heartfelt letter about how my album helped him through a very difficult time in his life. That made - and still makes - my day.

The digital re-release came out in 2017, and without the booklet, it's missing a good part of the album experience. Then again, almost no one listens to the album anyway, so it doesn't matter much.

As a bonus tidbit: In 2005 I had to create a music video for my media studies at the University of Potsdam. I chose “A Night Out In Dub”, but I made a new version for the video. That new version is available on DFR018 these days.

The original artwork that was printed on the CD itself. Imagine it's round and with a hole in the middle.

Sides 4 and 5 of the original CD booklet.

This must have been an early draft for the CD cover from 2004.
